Tenses of verbs in the Chinese language are expressed in a different way from English. There are no changes in the character spelling and no irregular verbs. You will find the general rules from the following sentences.

1. He is here.

他tā在zài这zhè-里lǐ。

2. He has come.

他tā已yǐ-经jīng来lái了le。

3. He is having his meal.

他tā正zhèng-在zài吃chī-饭fàn。

4. He came.

他tā 来lái-过guò了le。

5. He will come.

他tā 会huì 来lái的de。
