Tenses of verbs in the Chinese language are expressed in a different way from English. There are no changes in the character spelling and no irregular verbs. You will find the general rules from the following sentences.

她tā离lí-开kāi了le这zhè-里lǐ。

7. When did she leave?

她tā什shéng-么me时shí-候hou离lí-开kāi的de？

8. She will be back soon.

她tā不bù-久jiǔ就jiù回huí-来lái。

9. Look! She is coming.

瞧！qiáo她tā来lái啦la。

10. I said she would be back soon.
