The most common way to form an interrogative sentence in Chinese is to put the word Ma (吗 ) at the end of a narrative sentence without changing the word order in the sentence. Other ways are like those in English by using interrogative words or tones.

1. Is the class over?

课kè完wán了le吗ma？

2. Yes, it’s over.

是shì的de，完wán了le。

3. Have you eaten yet?

你nǐ吃chī了le吗ma？

4. I have.

我wǒ 吃chī了le。

5. Where will she go?

她tā 去qǜ 哪nǎ-里li？
